Saturday 28th April:
First Lesser Whitethroat of the year, heard over towards the Labyrinth but was roaming between there and the Visitor Centre. TP had a Garden Warbler in the Rough, the other first.
There were good numbers of Hirundines in the park with ~50 Swallows and ~50 House Martins and ~150 Sand Martins. I had a call from JB later to say there were the most Swallows he had seen in a long time, down at Riverside Pond and flying up and down the river.
We had a Grasshopper Warbler over on Fenlake Meadows.
A pair of Grey Wagtails were on the Canoe Slalom with another up at the STW.
Chiffchaff, Blackcap, Common Whitethroat, Sedge and Reed Warblers also seen/heard.
2 singing Goldcrests either side of the Leat Pool.
The weather forecast is not looking great for tomorrows guided walk but we'll see what comes along. The forecast was dry for this morning and that didn't work out!
For the guided walk meet at the Visitor Centre at 9am tomorrow morning.
There will be a Dawn Chorus guided walk on Sunday the 13th May, meet at the Visitor Centre at 5am.
