Sat 5th June - Ringing, etc

A dawn session for Reed Warblers at the beach end of the main lake yielded 12 different ones. Altogether, 20 birds (8 new & (12) retraps, 2 of which were new-for-year) of 7 species were ringed as follows: Wren 1, Dunnock 1 + (2), Reed Warbler 5 + (7), Blackcap (1), Chiffchaff 1, Chaffinch (1) & Reed Bunting (1).

The Fingers' pair of swans still have 6 cygnets. We also saw 3 Greylags, Kingfisher, male Cuckoo, male Turtle Dove, Gt. Spotted Woodpecker, Common Whitethroat and a pair of Goldfinches.

So far this year, we have caught 13 different male and 10 different female Reed Warblers at this small reedbed.
